A natural eco-friendly way of seeing

life after death.

Green burial is also called "eco-friendly" or "natural burial", means that the body, which is not embalmed (or embalmed with eco-friendly formaldehyde-free embalming fluids) is buried in  an eco-friendly casket, urn or other green container made of biodegradable, non-toxic and sustainable materials.

Eco-friendly products and greener burial or cremation options can make a significant reduction in the carbon footprint you leave behind.  Green burials conserve natural resources, preserve the environment and protect the health of industry workers.

Since 2012, Green Burials have been available at Burr Cemetery in a separate section, located on a 2-acre undisturbed wooded area. Access is by foot traffic only and no equipment is allowed in, unless needed for safety clearing purposes.  The only maintenance to this area is trimming of hazardous brush or trees and clean up of fallen debris. All interments are performed and dug by hand only - no mechanical equipment is allowed.
